Seasons of themed films and shorts are run In the Philip Astley Centre covering and celebrating all aspects of Philip Astley, his life, his circus legacy plus allied arts including circus and fairground history. Often these films link to exhibitions within the Philip Astley Centre.
Philip Astley Projects Film Seasons celebrate all aspects of circus, fairground, entertainment, allied arts and often with rarely or never seen before historic footage. Regular collaborations with Staffordshire Film Archive and access to private collections including the Van Buren Collection gives the opportunity for public access to a wide range of rare historic visual records and films.
Previous films have included the History of Fairgrounds, local links to circus and fun fairs, the era of the Big Circus, Buffalo Bill Story, The Van Buren Story, Showman’s Grounds, Circus in the Air, the Andrew Ducrow Story and so many more.
