A selection of circus themed Easter activities are being held at Brampton Museum to continue the ongoing celebration of circus pioneer- Philip Astley, from Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Children and families are invited to make their own circus themed posters to be exhibited in the Hall Gallery, advertising Astley’s circus.
An Astley exhibition is being unveiled on May 5th, displayed until July 15th at the museum, educating people about his legacy in circus throughout the world. This includes the 42- foot ring diameter still used today.
This year marks the 250th anniversary of the circus so there’s no better way to celebrate by showing your support this Easter!
Poster workshops will be taking place throughout the Easter Holidays from 30th March- 14th April, allowing people to get creative! Old circus posters will be provided to use for inspiration.
Andrew Van Buren Circus Skills Workshops will be held on select advertised dates throughout the Exhibition.
Further details can be found on the Van Buren website www.vanburen.org.uk
Entry for the circus poster activity is £2. A winner of the best poster will be chosen to receive a special prize!
Regular activities at Brampton Museum include a selection of paper crafts, and a museum prize trail. Themed craft packs are available to buy for getting creative at the museum and at home.
