Saturday 20 April 2024 was the annual Worlds Circus Day and to celebrate the Philip Astley Centre located on Merrial Street in Astley’s birthplace of Newcastle under Lyme held a hugely successful daylong free event with performances of circus skills, puppetry and balloon modelling much to the visitors delight they could try their hand themselves at all of the puppetry and circus skills as well as take away balloon creations including not only balloon dogs and swords but also intricate hats, fashionista’s and exotic creatures.
A highlight of the day was a visit from our very own puppet Philip Astley.
The World Circus Day is an initiative of Federation Mondiale du Cirque whose honorary president HSH Princess Stephanie of Monaco sent a message of support to all involved.
The centre is also offering strategy team building days to foster stronger bonds and innovative thinking among the team. Furthermore, the premises are also available for party hires and meetings, providing a unique and memorable backdrop for your special occasions and corporate gatherings.
