Andrew Van Buren taking Philip Astley theme Circus Skills Workshops into Schools
Philip Astley Projects CIC Director Andrew Van Buren is currently touring the unique Philip Astley Theme Circus Skills Workshops around Staffordshire Schools.
Today appearing at Heron Cross Primary School in Staffordshire, Andrew Commented “it is wonderful sharing the story of Newcastle under Lyme born Philip Astley with young students, not only as an inspirational story but also opportunity for them all to first hand learn circus skills”.
Heron Cross Primary School Teachers said:
“Today, the Year 1 children were immersed into a circus workshop with Andrew Van Buren and Alison so that they can fully understand how the characters in their stories feel! The children enjoyed learning more about Philip Astley and LOVED having a go at some of the circus skills”.
Feedback from other schools has been amazing so far:
- “Huge thanks to Andrew and Allyson for a super workshop yesterday. It was a brilliant afternoon and very much enjoyed by all”.
- “The pupils thoroughly enjoyed it, with so many questions after about the centre. I’ll be sure to promote the centre itself and look forward to developing some further opportunities this year. PE Lead and Curriculum Engagement.”
- “What an unforgettable experience filled with laughter, learning, and a whole lot of fun!”
- “It is fantastic that not only do we learn about Philip Astley and his legacy but also the local family links
