Award Winning Animated Film

Celebrations as our award winning Philip Astley Project animated film wins Staffordshire Day Film Festival 2021 Animation Category.

The popular animated film ‘Philip Astley Father of Modern Circus‘ created by Stoke on Trent based Inspired Film and Video company for the Philip Astley Project has won against stiff competition the best Animation / Experimental Film category of the first Staffordshire Day Film Festival. The event was held on 1st May 2021 in conjunction with the Staffordshire Day celebrations.

The Philip Astley animation film tells the story of Astley – military hero, original Ringmaster and creator of the modern circus. This film was originally commissioned to help spread the inspirational story of Philip Astley not only within the entertainment industry, but also to the up coming generations as a message of what can be achieved, also in a hope to cement Astley back into the public awareness and give a unique selling point lifeline to his birthplace of the market town Newcastle-Under-Lyme in Staffordshire.

Staffordshire Day is celebrated on 1 May every year to promote the historic county of Staffordshire, England. The initiative was launched in 2015 by South Staffordshire MP Gavin Williamson. Williamson gave the rationale for the celebration: “I’ve seen other great counties pay tribute to their history and traditions and I think it’s only right that we honour the wonderful County of Staffordshire. There is so much to celebrate from history, food, tradition and people that hail from this extraordinary area”.
